  • Trainer, A Framework for Understanding Poverty: trained a social service agency staff, presented for two college classes (2001 – 2003).
  • Kettering Foundation: Community Politics Participant; Issue Framing Steering Committee Member for "What's the Public's Role in Public Education."
  • Kanawha County Schools: Character Education Facilitator for Kanawha County Schools, secured and distributed state grants, trained teachers and service personnel, co-designed state-wide conferences, designed assessment, lobbied for character education (1996 – 2000).
  • Parent volunteer in the public school system by initiating innovative educational programming; becoming familiar with the challenges of public education, parenting, community agencies; learning current research and character education practices; gaining experience in being a parent / community person working within a large school system; managing staff development both in schools and at local and national conferences; finding and arranging visiting consultants; organizing parent and community connections for schools; and writing and evaluating local and state grants for schools (1984 - 1995).
